Thomas Müller could join Julian Nagelsmann’s coaching staff for the 2026 World Cup
This would be a truly spectacular comeback.
Thomas Müller could be a valuable addition as an assistant coach.
Details: Germany’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann hasn’t dismissed the idea of 36-year-old forward Thomas Müller joining the coaching staff for the 2026 World Cup:
“Thomas could definitely take on such a role. He still has a contract with Vancouver until December 2026. As far as I know, training is slated to begin around June 26, 2026. I don’t imagine the coach would be pleased if Thomas decided to arrive two or three weeks late because he wants to be an assistant coach.”
Müller joined Vancouver in early August as a free agent after a long career at Bayern Munich. He has also represented the German national team 131 times, scoring 45 goals and winning the World Cup in 2014.
Reminder: “I don’t compromise my principles,” — Julian Nagelsmann on the performance of the German national team.
