CONCACAF has announced that three Mexican players are on the final shortlist for the 2024/2025 Player of the Year award. The nominees are Ángel Sepúlveda, Raúl Jiménez, and Edson Álvarez, who are recognized for their outstanding performances in the region.

Voting will include national team coaches, captains, journalists, and fans. The participation of supporters is crucial, as the player with the most votes will receive four points, the second will get three, and the third will get two. Voting will remain open until September 30.

Sepúlveda was a surprising choice after an impressive season with Cruz Azul, where he helped the team clinch the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup title, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with nine goals and being named the best player. Álvarez, a midfielder for West Ham, and Jiménez, a striker for Fulham, earned nominations due to their strong contributions with the Mexico national team in the Nations League and Gold Cup.

The men’s shortlist also includes Canada’s Jonathan David, who is excelling in Europe, American talent Malik Tillman, and Costa Rica’s Manfred Ugalde, an important attacking player for his team.

For women, Mexico has two nominees: Charlyn Corral from Pachuca and Jacqueline Ovalle from Orlando Pride. They are up against Haiti’s Melchie Dumornay, U.S. players Emily Fox and Lindsey Heaps, and Jamaica’s standout striker Khadija Shaw.
