Thrissur: In the Sports.com Super League Kerala, presented by Amul, the match between Thrissur Magic FC and Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC ended in a draw. The eighth-round contest finished with a scoreline of 1-1.
Paulo Victor scored for Kombans, while Faisal Ali found the net for Thrissur. Following this result, Thrissur holds the second position on the points table with 14 points from eight games. Kombans are in third place with 11 points.
Playing at their home ground, the Corporation Stadium, Thrissur made five changes to their starting lineup. Thiruvananthapuram opened the scoring just five minutes into the game. Paulo Victor took advantage of a missed clearance by Thrissur’s Muhammed Jiyad from a pass by Shafi, making the score 1-0. It was the Brazilian player’s second goal in the league.
Thrissur responded in the 16th minute. Ivan Markovic provided a pass that Kevin Javier forwarded to Faisal Ali, who scored with a first-time touch to level the score at 1-1.
In the 26th minute, Kombans’ player Ronald made a solo run past several defenders, but his shot went over the crossbar. For the remainder of the first half, neither team managed to create any significant goal-scoring opportunities.
At the start of the second half, Kombans brought on Muhammed Asahar to replace Muhammed Shafi. Jasim from Kombans was shown a yellow card for a foul on Kevin Javier. In the first leg of this fixture, held in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur had won the match by a single goal.
On Sunday, November 23, the second match of the eighth round will feature Kannur Warriors FC against Forza Kochi FC. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM at the Jawahar Stadium in Kannur.
