Super League Kerala: Thrissur Magic FC Secures Semi-Final Spot

Thrissur: Thrissur Magic FC has secured its place in the semi-finals of the Amul Sports.com Super League Kerala. They defeated Forza Kochi FC 1-0 in the first match of the ninth round at the Corporation Stadium. With this win, Thrissur joins Calicut FC in the semi-final stage. Kevin Javier scored the important goal in the first half.

Thrissur now has 17 points from nine matches, with five wins and two draws. Forza Kochi, already out of the tournament, has only three points from nine games.

In the 20th minute of the match, a left-footed shot from Thrissur’s Francis Ado went over the crossbar. Thrissur scored in the 27th minute when Colombian player Kevin Javier converted a pass from Ivan Marcovic, making the score 1-0. Seven minutes later, Javier received a yellow card for a foul on Kochi’s Enric Lopez. Before halftime, Thrissur’s Bibin Ajayan was also shown a yellow card for a foul on Nijo Gilbert.

Early in the second half, a goal attempt by Kochi’s Sreeraj from a long pass by captain Atmane went just wide. In the 57th minute, Thrissur brought on Afsal and SK Fayaz. Kochi missed a significant chance in the 60th minute when Nijo Gilbert failed to score with only the goalkeeper to beat, following a pass from Amos. In the 75th minute, Afsal could not convert an opportunity to double Thrissur’s lead. Shortly after, a shot from Kochi captain Atmane hit the post and went out.

In the previous match between these two teams, Thrissur had also won by a single goal. The game was attended by 5,572 spectators.

On Friday, November 28, the second match of the ninth round will feature Kannur Warriors FC against Calicut FC. Kannur, currently in fifth place, needs a win to keep their semi-final chances alive. Calicut FC has already qualified for the semi-finals. The match is scheduled for a 7:30 PM kick-off at the Kannur Jawahar Stadium.
