Ivan Toney believes his performance statistics should earn him a spot on the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Toney has not played for the national team since June 2025, but he remains focused on joining the squad for this summer’s tournament.

The Al-Ahli forward has been a prolific scorer since moving to Saudi Arabia, netting 58 goals in 76 appearances across all competitions.

Currently, he leads the Saudi Pro League with 20 goals in 20 matches, ahead of notable players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Felix, and Mateo Retegui in the Golden Boot race.

There were rumors of a Premier League return for Toney in January, with teams like Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, and Manchester United showing interest.

However, Toney has expressed his satisfaction with his life in the Middle East. He trusts that his goal-scoring record will convince Thomas Tuchel to include him in the World Cup squad.

“Never say never,” Toney told Sky Sports News regarding the possibility of returning to the Premier League.

“I have goals to accomplish here first, as the club has signed me for a long time.

“I want to give back and help win trophies. In football and life, you never know what may happen next. Who knows what the next step will be?

“I’m comfortable here and enjoying my time. My numbers speak for themselves, and I’m settled. I’m enjoying my football and don’t see a reason to leave for my previous club.”
