Walker Zimmerman is looking forward to starting a new chapter in his successful MLS career with Toronto FC.
“Toronto FC has a strong history in MLS. When the chance to join this club and city arose, it was a straightforward choice,” said Zimmerman, a two-time MLS Defender of the Year. “I am eager to work with my new teammates and perform for some of the best supporters in the league as we aim for trophies together.”
Toronto announced the signing of the 32-year-old free agent and veteran of the U.S. men’s national team on Friday. His contract runs through the 2027-28 season.
Zimmerman is a five-time MLS Best XI member and a four-time All-Star who played the last six seasons with Nashville SC. Throughout his career with FC Dallas (2013-17), Los Angeles FC (2018-19), and Nashville, he has scored 29 goals and provided 12 assists in 341 appearances.
“His experience and track record of solid defensive play in MLS will greatly benefit us,” said Toronto general manager Jason Hernandez.
“Aside from his skills on the field, his leadership and professionalism will be key to building a winning culture here. He has made a positive impact at every team he’s joined, and we are thrilled to start this journey together.”
Zimmerman’s accolades include Supporters’ Shields with LAFC in 2019 and Dallas in 2016, and U.S. Open Cups with Dallas in 2016 and Nashville in 2025.
