“Doué? I don’t know, I’m not the doctor, but it’s not good news. I didn’t see the images, it was on the other side of the pitch.” These were Luis Enrique’s comments regarding Désiré Doué when questioned by the media. The international player had to leave the match against Lorient (1-1) on a stretcher and later exited the stadium using crutches, appearing visibly upset.
This is a tough blow for the Parisian player, who had already missed over a month of competition during September and October due to a calf injury suffered while playing for the French national team in the first international break of the season. He had participated in four matches since then, including one against Bayer Leverkusen where he scored two goals, but he now faces another setback.
The newspaper Le Parisien reports that Doué could face several weeks on the sidelines. He was reportedly distraught in the locker room. While further examinations are being conducted today to determine a final diagnosis, he is expected to be out for a similar or even longer duration than his initial injury, which already kept him off the field for six weeks.
This means he will be unavailable and omitted from Didier Deschamps’ list for the upcoming matches for France against Ukraine and Azerbaijan during the November break. More critically, he will miss several significant clashes for PSG, including an upcoming match against Bayern in the Champions League, the game against Lyon on November 9, and his availability for matches against Tottenham (November 26), Monaco (November 29), and Rennes (December 6) remains uncertain. This is yet another challenge for both Doué and PSG, who are struggling with a wave of injuries at the start of this season.
