Crystal Palace’s coach Glasner is facing challenges, with the team currently in 13th place in the league. As a result, attention has turned to potential new leadership.

There is noticeable frustration among supporters, increasing the pressure on the club’s management to make the right choice.

Interim coach Carrick could be considered further if he performs well, while Gareth Southgate is also a candidate due to his connections with Ineos.

Other names are in the mix as well. Xabi Alonso has just left Real Madrid, and Andoni Iraola from Bournemouth is also mentioned.

Jamie Jackson from The Guardian shared on Sky Sports that Thomas Tuchel and Roberto De Zerbi are frequently linked to the role.

“I hear they are looking at Tuchel or De Zerbi as the top choices,” Jackson stated.

“Tuchel is knowledgeable about the game. He did decline their approach before when they considered parting ways with Ten Hag ahead of the FA Cup Final in May 2024. He met with them in Monaco, but he’s a top-tier manager.”

“I believe United hasn’t had a leading manager in peak form since Ferguson. Mourinho was past his prime, as was Van Gaal, and since then, they’ve opted for coaches with potential.”

De Zerbi, who was previously considered for the United role before moving to Marseille, remains a viable option, according to Ferdinand.

On his show ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents’, he commented: “He’s an available option, more accessible than Tuchel, who is also among my top choices. De Zerbi is a proper coach who effectively develops players.”

The Italian manager currently has Marseille in third place in Ligue 1, eight points behind the leaders, Lens.
