UEFA Champions League 2025-26 Final Set for Earlier Kickoff to Benefit Fans, Families, and Host Cities

UEFA has announced that the men’s Champions League final will now start at 6 p.m. Central European Time, moving forward by three hours.

This change is aimed at making it easier for families and children to attend, improving public transport options post-game, and enhancing the overall fan experience in the host cities.

The new timing will take effect at the next final on Saturday, May 30, at Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary. Finals have been held on Saturdays since 2010.

Previously, the 9 p.m. start often led to games finishing just before midnight, especially if they went into extra time or penalties.

“The earlier kickoff also allows for a better broadcasting schedule, reaching a larger audience globally and appealing to younger viewers,” UEFA stated.

This decision followed discussions with the Football Supporters Europe group, which represents fan interests.

“An earlier kickoff makes it easier for day trips, reduces travel stress, and lets fans enjoy the occasion without late-night concerns,” said FSE executive director Ronan Evain.
