UEFA Clarifies Selection of Top Match for Tuesday’s Fixtures

The competition for broadcasting rights to the Champions League for the period 2027-2031 has begun. For the first time, following a change in marketing agency, UEFA will introduce a new structure, including the highly sought-after Lot A. UEFA’s marketing director, Guy-Laurent Epstein, provided insights on the marquee match broadcasted worldwide.

“This will enable local broadcasters to tailor their coverage to how fans in their countries want to enjoy football and their clubs. Canal+ knows how to communicate with French audiences, and this is true in all our markets. Regarding the globally broadcasted match, if sold, we cannot choose teams like PSG or Real Madrid multiple times during the league phase, but only once each. This adds value to the other lots as well. From the knockout stage onwards, the first selection for Tuesday nights will be more flexible,” he mentioned in an interview with L’Équipe.
