French defender Samuel Umtiti had a successful career, playing for Barcelona and winning the World Cup. However, ongoing injuries cut his time in football short.

Details: After leaving Lille in July, Umtiti remained without a club. Now, on September 15, at 31 years old, he has officially announced his retirement. He shared the news through an emotional farewell video on Instagram.

For the record: Umtiti played for Lyon, Barcelona, Lecce, and Lille. He made 362 club appearances and earned 31 caps for the national team, winning the World Cup in 2018.
