The Philadelphia Union announced the signing of Danish defender Japhet Sery Larsen on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old joins the team on a permanent transfer from Norway’s SK Brann.
He is contracted through the 2028-29 season, with an option for 2029-30, and will occupy an international roster slot.
Union head coach Bradley Carnell stated, “Japhet is a proactive, forward-thinking center back who brings valuable experience from his time competing in the UEFA Europa League. His aggressive playing style fits our system well, and we’re confident his high soccer IQ and leadership qualities will be valuable assets to the team this season.”
Larsen made 98 appearances for SK Brann over the past three seasons, scoring four goals. The club finished as runners-up in the Eliteserien in both 2023 and 2024, and won the Norwegian Cup in 2023.
