The United Soccer League (USL), the Town of Firestone, and Card & Associates have formed a pre-development partnership to change Central Park into a sports and entertainment district centered around a stadium, according to USLSoccer.com. The plan aims to host professional men’s and women’s soccer, while also creating a community hub that operates year-round.

“Soccer is the fastest-growing sport in the U.S., and Firestone has a strong fan base. This stadium district could greatly enhance the future of professional soccer here,” said USL Deputy CEO Justin Papadakis. He mentioned that the project could revitalize Central Park and boost local pride.

Firestone acquired the 252-acre Central Park site in 2005 and has been exploring different uses since then. With support from USL and Card & Associates, the current plan includes a multi-use stadium along with mixed-use developments such as education, recreation, dining, entertainment, and retail spaces for residents and visitors.

Town Manager A.J.
