Virgil van Dijk has highlighted Andy Robertson’s influence on Milos Kerkez’s development at Liverpool.
Kerkez joined Liverpool from Bournemouth over the summer but had a challenging start at Anfield.
The 22-year-old initially struggled for form but has started to build his confidence. He made an impact during Liverpool’s FA Cup victory against Brighton on Saturday, assisting Curtis Jones’s first goal.
Van Dijk commended Kerkez for his progress and mentioned how Robertson has been a supportive figure for the new player. Although Kerkez has taken over as the team’s primary left-back, Robertson has been providing valuable guidance. Van Dijk pointed out Robertson’s role in Kerkez’s improvement.
“It’s clear that you can see an improvement. He is still very young and adjusting to being a Liverpool player; it involves more than just playing football,” Van Dijk explained.
“Especially during a period when the team has been inconsistent, it can be tough to deliver your best performances. However, with Robbo’s help and his own growth, he’s making significant strides. There’s still a lot for him to learn and develop, which is promising. He just needs to keep pushing forward.”
“He has great energy. Being young, he is eager to learn. The transfer fee is something beyond his control. When I joined, I faced the same situation. £75million was a considerable sum, but that’s just part of it,” he added.
