Virgil van Dijk stated he was fouled before Bournemouth’s late winner against Liverpool at Dean Court on Saturday evening.

Amine Adli scored at the near post deep into stoppage time, giving Bournemouth all three points after they had surrendered a two-goal lead in the second half.

Evanilson opened the scoring early, capitalizing on Van Dijk’s failure to clear. Alex Jimenez quickly doubled their advantage.

Liverpool’s captain responded just before halftime, and Dominik Szoboszlai seemed to secure a point with a excellent free kick in the 80th minute. However, Adli clinched the win in a goalmouth scramble.

Van Dijk argued that he was fouled, but video replay suggested it was his teammate, Curtis Jones, who made contact with him.

“I felt clearly blocked on the pitch,” he told Sky Sports. “The referee and VAR didn’t call it.”

“We have to accept it. I can say it shouldn’t have happened, but it did. It is what it is.”

Liverpool were down to 10 men when Bournemouth scored their second goal, as Joe Gomez left the game due to injury and no substitute had been made.

“We were down to 10 men; you could argue we should have kicked the ball out,” Van Dijk noted. “It’s not easy to blame Alisson. It happened in a split second.”
