Just hours before the match between FC Metz and PSG at Saint-Symphorien, serious incidents erupted nearby. At around 2 PM IST, ultras from both Metz and Paris clashed in Montigny-lès-Metz, a few kilometers from the stadium, reports Républicain Lorrain. According to initial reports, about forty Parisian supporters faced a slightly larger group from Metz in a particularly violent confrontation.
Due to the scale of the disturbances, the national police intervened, using tear gas to disperse the two groups and prevent further escalation. The factions then parted ways, bringing an end to the clashes. Law enforcement remains on high alert to avoid another wave of violence around the stadium during and after the match.
