Wayne Rooney Slams Paul Pogba and Other MU Flops

Wayne Rooney is not holding back. During his appearance on The Overlap, the former striker pointed out three underwhelming signings for Manchester United. “The previous recruitment was disastrous, wasn’t it? They only brought in big names. Look at Lukaku, Zlatan, Pogba—these are good players, but they only went for well-known names and spent huge sums. It will take time to recover from those mistakes. Over the past decade, some players have been truly mishandled at Manchester United. Now that they are seeing some results, there is a gradual return of confidence. The coach also needed these results.”

He added: “You can sense he has more self-belief now. Their condition is gradually improving, and there is clearly been some progress. I think we are seeing development, and the players are beginning to understand each other better. I would like to see Bruno Fernandes deployed higher up the pitch. It will be interesting to see if they can attract players in January to give them the necessary boost to aim for European qualification or to finish among the top four or five in the Champions League. We are slowly starting to see better signings. We need to be realistic and ask: ‘Will they win the league?’ No, they won’t. Is it possible to reach the top four or five? We are noticing steady improvement.” Rooney sees change.
