Chelsea captain Reece James expressed confidence that his team had the potential to win the Premier League London derby against Arsenal, despite playing with ten men for more than half the match.
The match at Stamford Bridge ended in a 1-1 draw. James praised his team for dominating in many areas and delivering a strong performance even after Moises Caicedo received an early red card. Chelsea took the lead through a header from Trevoh Chalobah, who converted a corner kick from James. However, Mikel Merino scored an equalizer for Arsenal in the second half.
According to James, Chelsea showed great fighting spirit, controlled the play for long periods, and successfully managed the pressure from the league leaders. He stressed that although earning just one point was a bit disappointing, the performance sent a strong message about Chelsea’s progress and goals this season.
Currently, Chelsea sits in third place in the Premier League, six points behind Arsenal. James pointed out that the team’s determination and tactical discipline are vital as they continue to compete for the title.
