Callum Wilson has agreed to a new contract with West Ham United that will last until 2027.
Wilson’s previous contract was set to end this summer, but an extension has now been finalized.
The 34-year-old joined West Ham on a free transfer from Newcastle United last summer, with a contract that included performance-based incentives after dealing with injuries.
He has scored five goals in 10 league starts this season, providing valuable experience for Nuno Espirito Santo’s forward lineup.
This new contract is a change of direction for Wilson, who was anticipated to leave in January after the arrivals of Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe for around £47 million combined.
However, The Telegraph reports that a deal to extend his stay at the London Stadium has been agreed upon.
This decision comes as West Ham fights to stay out of the relegation zone in the Premier League. The team is currently 18th in the league, tied on points with Nottingham Forest but in the bottom three due to goal difference. Tottenham Hotspur is just one point ahead of those two teams.
West Ham is set to play Brentford in the FA Cup’s fifth round this evening before facing Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.
