Barcelona faces Getafe, aiming to maintain their unbeaten streak in LaLiga and keep pace with Real Madrid at the top of the table. Although there were concerns about their defense at the start of the 2025-26 season, Hansi Flick’s team has shown impressive improvement. They are looking to build on this success with a win. Lamine Yamal is missing from Barcelona‘s lineup, and the match will take place at the Estadi Johan Cruyff instead of Camp Nou or Montjuic.
Despite Barcelona’s request for a partial reopening of Camp Nou being denied, the team has had to look for other venues. Unlike the previous match against Valencia, Montjuic Stadium is currently free from concert events. However, it did not receive the required approval. Thus, Barcelona will play at Johan Cruyff Stadium again.
After being denied permission for partial opening at Camp Nou, Barcelona plans to hold their next home game against Real Sociedad on September 28 at Johan Cruyff Stadium, as Montjuic Stadium will be hosting the “Piromusical” event. Diario Sport has reported that the club is in negotiations to play the October 1 match against Paris Saint Germain at this venue.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta comments on Camp Nou renovation
Barcelona president Joan Laporta stated that renovation work at Camp Nou began with plans for a partial reopening by November 2024. However, this timeline has not been met, and ten months have passed without the stadium reopening. Recently, Laporta addressed the delays and shared updates on the renovation status.

“The stadium is finished and ready to play in. We now need to proceed with the formal and administrative processes… We will be returning home soon, but I can’t specify when as it depends on the permits we need from the authorities,” Laporta was quoted by Diario El Pais. His comments highlight the impact of local government approvals on the renovation delays.
In response, the local City Council—according to Diario El Pais—emphasizes that their priority is to ensure the project meets all regulations, particularly regarding safety standards. They noted that some stadium aspects might not be fully prepared for large events and urged caution about any announced return dates.
Report: Barcelona may miss Champions League matches at Camp Nou
Due to ongoing renovation delays, Barcelona hasn’t received permission to play at Camp Nou. As per Diario Sport, the team intends to host its first home game in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League at Montjuic Stadium. This decision effectively eliminates the chance of holding any Champions League matches at Camp Nou this season.
According to UEFA rules, “From the league phase onward, a club must generally play all its matches in the competition at the same stadium. Any stadium changes between the play-offs and the league phase must be agreed upon with UEFA in advance.” Thus, if FC Barcelona plays against PSG at Montjuic, they would not be able to return to Camp Nou for Champions League games unless the venue becomes unusable due to unforeseen circumstances.
