Barcelona has had a strong start in the 2025-26 LaLiga season, despite their recent draw against Rayo Vallecano. Ferran Torres has been performing well as a striker, keeping the team unbeaten. However, head coach Hansi Flick has decided to bench key players Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski for the match against Valencia.

Valencia, under new coach Carlos Coberan, is showing renewed energy after struggling near the relegation zone for a few seasons. Following their victory over Getafe, Valencia aims for a second consecutive win, with players Arnaut Danjuma and Hugo Duro leading the attack, supported by Mouctar Diakhaby, who has become pivotal for the team.

Barcelona is feeling the pressure as they remain undefeated, yet Real Madrid’s recent winning streak adds significance to their latest draw and upcoming game. In response, Flick has made surprising alterations to his starting lineup, including less common choices like Eric Garcia, Marc Casado, Roony Bardghji, and Marcus Rashford.

Why is Raphinha not starting for Barcelona vs Valencia today?

Raphinha has proven to be a key player for Barcelona, but Hansi Flick’s decision to bench him was unexpected as he is not injured. Reports indicate that his late arrival to training influenced the decision. This is not the first time Flick has enforced such a policy, as other players like Jules Kounde have faced similar situations due to lateness.

Brazilian star Raphinha scored another goal in the Champions League.

According to Rac1, Raphinha’s benching emphasizes the strict standards set by Flick.

Why is Robert Lewandowski not starting for Barcelona vs Valencia today?

Robert Lewandowski’s absence from the starting lineup isn’t due to any disciplinary actions. Although he played over 60 minutes in recent international matches, Hansi Flick has opted for Ferran Torres in the starting role based on tactical reasons.

At 37, Lewandowski continues to be a critical player, having scored 42 goals in 52 matches last season. However, the team is managing his on-field time carefully due to concerns about a hamstring injury he is recovering from. Though he may not start, he could still participate in the match.

Barcelona lineup vs Valencia

Due to several absentees, head coach Hansi Flick has made notable changes in the Barcelona lineup, shifting focus to lesser-known players like Eric Garcia, Roony Bardghji, and Marcus Rashford.
