Barcelona has begun the 2025-26 season in strong shape. After missing last season’s goals, the team revamped its roster to improve performance. Today, they face PSG in the UEFA Champions League, but several players are out because of injuries. Head coach Hansi Flick has chosen to bench Robert Lewandowski, surprising many observers.

Robert Lewandowski is a key player for Barcelona, even at his age. Last season, he scored 42 goals and provided 3 assists in 52 matches across all competitions. This season started off tough for him due to injuries, but the 37-year-old star has recovered well and is ready for today’s match.

Before this important match, Hansi Flick’s decision to bench Lewandowski was tactical, not injury-related. According to Diario Sport, the coach intends to use Ferran Torres up front to apply pressure on PSG’s defense, a role that doesn’t fit Lewandowski in this situation. Despite this decision, Lewandowski may still play as the match unfolds.

Betting on Ferran Torres as Barcelona’s main striker may seem risky, but the 25-year-old has stepped up impressively. After Lewandowski’s early-season injury, Torres scored four goals and made an assist in eight matches. His versatility and physicality make him a vital player on the team, serving as a suitable alternative to the veteran star.

Robert Lewandowski of FC Barcelona is challenged by Djene of Getafe CF.

Barcelona lineup vs PSG

Despite some injuries, Barcelona heads into the PSG match with some uncertainty. However, Hansi Flick can count on his squad’s depth, with multiple players ready to take on key roles. Therefore, the team is aiming for a second straight UEFA Champions League win with significant changes to the lineup to enhance performance.

Given these necessary adjustments, Barcelona’s lineup will be: Wojciech Szczesny, Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsi, Gerard Martin; Frenkie De Jong, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Marcus Rashford; Ferran Torres.
