Xabi Alonso is seeking reinforcements, potentially this winter. This is the buzz in the Madrid press, despite Real Madrid’s usual reluctance to enter the winter transfer market. According to Defensa Central, the Real Madrid coach has asked Florentino Pérez to make an effort to sign Rodrigo Mendoza, the Spanish Under-21 international midfielder from Elche.
Still relatively unknown to the general public, Mendoza is one of the breakout stars of the season in Spain and has attracted interest from several top European clubs. Alonso believes he could be a highly valuable midfielder, and his release clause is set at €20 million. The Basque coach is urging the management to act quickly to avoid missing out to other clubs, including Barcelona and Juventus.
