After leaving FC Barcelona in June 2024, Xavi is taking his time before diving into a new project. Despite interest from prestigious clubs like Manchester United, Ajax Amsterdam, and Al-Ittihad, the former Barça midfielder has not yet agreed to any offer. Recently, Russian media outlet Metaratings.ru reported that Spartak Moscow is the latest club trying to persuade Xavi to join them as part of an ambitious plan led by Francis Cagigao, the new sporting director.
Earlier this season, Bayer Leverkusen also considered him, but Xavi turned them down as well. The 2010 World Cup champion is not impressed by the Moscow project’s outline, choosing instead to wait for an opportunity aligned with his vision for play and management. Meanwhile, Dejan Stankovic remains under pressure at Spartak, forcing the Russian club to seek alternate options. Xavi, still without a position as of autumn 2025, is patiently awaiting the right challenge to reignite his coaching career.
