Zimbabwe halt Bafana Bafana's World Cup dream
South Africa’s hope of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026 has been compromised after they were held to a goalless draw by 10-man Zimbabwe at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
In another match, Benin surprised Rwanda with a 1-0 victory in Kigali, extending their lead to 17 points. South Africa now has 15 points, making their qualification uncertain.
“Now, it’s no longer in our hands,” Broos mentioned after the match. “It becomes even more difficult now. But it’s not completely lost; we might still need a miracle,” the Belgian coach added.
