Zinchenko on the Verge of Leaving Arsenal as Young Players Emerge

Footem.in – Arsenal may be looking to offload two defenders before the transfer window closes, with Oleksandr Zinchenko reportedly set to join Jakub Kiwior in leaving the Emirates Stadium for Ligue 1 club, Marseille.

Arsenal’s Transfer Situation

Kiwior is expected to join Porto, a team in the Europa League, which opens the door for Arsenal to sign left-back Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen. This transfer is anticipated to be finalized shortly.

As Hincapie plays in the same position as Zinchenko, the latter’s future at the club is becoming increasingly uncertain.

According to journalist David Ornstein from The Athletic, Marseille is actively working to secure Zinchenko’s transfer. However, his wage of £200,000 per week (around Rp4.2 billion) poses a significant challenge that needs resolution before any agreement can be made.

Zinchenko’s Future at Emirates

Zinchenko was signed from Manchester City three years ago to elevate the quality of the squad, initially being a pivotal player for Arsenal.

While his first two seasons were stable, last season he appeared in only 15 Premier League matches, starting in just five and contributing one assist against Ipswich Town.

Despite Tierney’s departure, Arsenal’s defensive lineup remains strong, bolstered by the addition of Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori, making the left-back position fiercely competitive.

Timber has already secured a starting spot, scoring twice and keeping a clean sheet against Leeds United last week. Moreover, there’s potential from Myles Lewis-Skelly from the academy and the possible arrival of Hincapie, all of whom are younger than Zinchenko.

International Career and Future Prospects

On the international stage, Zinchenko boasts an impressive record with 12 goals in 73 appearances for Ukraine.

In the Premier League, he has played 145 matches. At 28 years old, he is believed to still be capable of performing at a high level, and a move to Ligue 1 with Marseille could be a promising new chapter, provided a deal is struck by the end of the transfer window.
