Nemanja Matić made an impact at Lyon. Following a notable career in England, the defensive midfielder joined the club in winter 2023. After struggling at Rennes for six months, the former Chelsea player was eager to sign with OL, despite their fight against relegation. He signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and enjoyed a successful stint at the Groupama Stadium. His first full season with Lyon turned out to be less impressive. He has started every match, missing only eight minutes in Serie A this season, showcasing impressive reliability at his age. His technical skills have significantly contributed to Sassuolo’s strong start this season.

As captain in two matches this season, Matić has delighted both fans and teammates. In a press conference, coach Fabio Grosso praised him: “Nemanja Matić?
