Liverpool manager Arne Slot has addressed the team’s challenges in finding a consistent right-back this season.

Following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure last summer, the club has struggled to fill the gap. Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley have faced injuries, with Bradley now sidelined for the rest of the season.

Joe Gomez has also had an injury-plagued season, leading Slot to occasionally play Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, and Wataru Endo in the right-back position.

Frimpong’s playing time has been managed carefully, and he was substituted during the recent win against Galatasaray.

During the pre-match press conference ahead of the Brighton game, Slot explained: “Jeremie Frimpong is an explosive player, capable of many sprints, and unfortunately, he has faced injuries when games come quickly. Now, with Joe [Gomez] injured, we have to consider our options.

“Dominik is primarily a midfielder. Playing him in different roles isn’t about being tactical; it’s because I have limited choices and want the best player available.

“Dominik is an excellent midfielder for us. We have more than just him, allowing me to utilize him in various positions where he can still perform well. If I can, I prefer to use him in midfield.”
