John Heitinga may be on the verge of a return to Liverpool as discussions take place regarding his potential comeback. The news comes from the Krrish channel on social media platform X, indicating that Liverpool’s management is currently in talks with the 42-year-old Dutch coach.
Reports suggest that if discussions progress positively, Heitinga could rejoin Arne Slot’s coaching staff as an assistant. Preliminary talks have already occurred, though no definitive agreement has been reached yet. Sources indicate that Slot himself is advocating for Heitinga’s return to the team.
Heitinga’s previous stint at Liverpool was from 2024 to 2025. Following his time at the club, he took over as head coach at Ajax in July 2025, but his tenure there ended after he was dismissed in October of the same year. Heitinga briefly served on Tottenham’s coaching staff from January to February 2026 before departing once again.
