Ola Aina, a defender for Nottingham Forest, has discussed his choice to represent Nigeria in international football rather than England. During an interview with the club’s YouTube channel, Aina highlighted the role of his family ties in making this decision.

Born and raised in London, Aina expressed that the connection to Nigeria is a significant part of his identity. “That’s where my parents are from; that’s my heritage,” he stated, reflecting on the importance of his roots in shaping his choice.

“Born and raised in London, I chose to play for Nigeria. It was simply a decision I made when I was around 20. The opportunity presented itself, and I believed it was the right one at that moment, so I embraced it wholeheartedly, and here I am today.”
