South African football legend Benni McCarthy has taken the helm of the Kenyan National Team as they prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers. The draw, held today in Egypt, placed Kenya in Group D alongside the Bafana Bafana, Eritrea, and Guinea.

The tournament is set to take place in June and will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Ongoing inspections of stadiums are currently underway to ensure readiness for the prestigious event.

Despite earlier concerns about the ability of the three nations to host the tournament, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the event will remain in these neighboring countries.

As the all-time leading goal scorer for Kenya with 32 goals, McCarthy is expected to guide the Harambee Stars to a competitive performance on home soil next year, making his encounter with his former team particularly noteworthy.
