The return of Portuguese coach José Mourinho to Real Madrid has faced significant delays, creating challenges for the club’s management.
According to reports from The GOAL, negotiations between Real Madrid and Benfica Lisbon have stalled. The central issue revolves around the postponed presidential elections at Benfica, which have now resulted in a hefty compensation demand. Real Madrid would have to pay €15 million to secure Mourinho’s return, a sum the club is reluctant to commit to in full.
Previously, discussions were progressing smoothly; however, Benfica’s strengthened negotiating position has allowed them to dictate terms more favorably. As a result, Real Madrid will need to reconsider its financial strategy if it seeks to bring Mourinho back to the club.
José Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, during which time he oversaw 178 matches, achieving 127 wins, 28 draws, and 23 losses.
