Thapelo Maseko, Kamogelo Sebelebele, and Olwethu Makhanya have emerged as standout players for Bafana Bafana during their recent match against Nicaragua. The trio caught the attention of coach Hugo Broos, who praised their performances following the game.

In a post-match statement, Broos noted, “Some of the new players, some for the first time with us – I think Sebelebele, Makhanya did well – also Maseko in the second half and the few others. It shows they deserved to be chosen, deserve to be with the team. It gives us more opportunities for next week and the World Cup.”

The match served as part of the final preparations for Bafana Bafana ahead of the upcoming World Cup. Broos highlighted the competitive nature of the encounter, though he described the game as negative, attributing this to the defensive strategy employed by the Central American side.

He lamented, “That was not the goal today for us; we’d like to have a good opponent who tries to play football, and that was not the case today. So a little bit disappointed about the opponent – but I’m happy with the performance of my team.” Bafana Bafana will next face Jamaica on June 5, marking their final match before the tournament opener against Mexico six days later.
