The Democratic Republic of Congo’s national football team, known as the Leopards, has departed for the United States ahead of the upcoming World Cup. The tournament, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is set to commence on 11 June.
The Leopards are expected to arrive in Houston, Texas, where they will establish their base camp. Under the guidance of head coach Sébastien Desabre, the team will prepare for their opening match scheduled for 17 June against Portugal in Group K.
Following their opener, the Leopards will continue their campaign with a match against Colombia on 24 June and conclude the group stage against Uzbekistan on 28 June.
This World Cup marks a significant return for the Democratic Republic of Congo, as they participate for the first time in 52 years. The squad is looking to make a memorable impact on the world stage.
