The financial situation at FC Barcelona has deteriorated significantly, putting the club’s budget under severe pressure.
Reports from DiarioAS indicate that the Catalan club is actively seeking to part ways with 34-year-old German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. The club’s management is reportedly facing challenges due to Ter Stegen’s substantial salary and ongoing injury issues, which are straining their wage bill and complicating efforts to secure new player transfers.
Barcelona is reportedly unable to retain Ter Stegen even as a backup due to his high salary. As a result, the club is hoping for a mutual termination of his contract. Ter Stegen has been with Barcelona since 2014, when he joined from Borussia Mönchengladbach for 12 million euros. Over his tenure, he has made 423 appearances, conceded 416 goals, and achieved 176 clean sheets.
