The Catalan club FC Barcelona has taken legal action against Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, following allegations of defamation. The announcement was made today on Barcelona’s official X account.

Barcelona claims that Pérez made defamatory statements during a press conference on May 12 and in a subsequent media interview. In accordance with Article 205 of the Spanish Penal Code, the club has filed a lawsuit and requested a reconciliation process.

The club emphasizes that their aim is not to harm Pérez but to seek justice. They are requesting that he retract his accusations, which they describe as false. Barcelona has provided a timeframe for Pérez to issue a public apology, failing which the matter will proceed to court.
