One final dance.

In a significant development for Mexican football, Guillermo Ochoa, one of the nation’s greatest goalkeepers, has announced that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will mark his final appearances for the national team. Ochoa has confirmed his intention to retire from professional football following the tournament.

Details: The veteran goalkeeper expressed his deep connection to the national team, stating, “The Mexico national team has always been my compass, my guiding force both in my career and in my life. I cannot imagine my career without the national team. I don’t know what it would have been without it.” He emphasized that as he approaches the end of his time with the team, he sees little meaning in continuing his football career.

Quote: “As my time with the national team comes to an end, I no longer see any meaning in football. I don’t see any reason to keep playing. I have enjoyed every single moment here. I gave everything I had on the pitch. I leave with peace in my heart, my head held high, and immense pride in having lived through this experience,” Ochoa said.

In other football news, Hervé Renard has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Tunisia for the remainder of the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
