Hervé Renard has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Tunisia, tasked with leading the team for the remainder of their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

This announcement follows the dismissal of Sabri Lamouchi by the Tunisian Football Federation, which came in the wake of the Eagles of Carthage’s disappointing loss to Sweden in their opening match of the tournament.

Lamouchi was removed from his position on Monday, just after overseeing Tunisia’s first World Cup fixture. The federation acted quickly to confirm Renard as his successor in the early hours of Tuesday.

This coaching change marks a historic milestone, as Tunisia becomes the first men’s national team to replace their head coach after playing only one match in World Cup history.
