Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan international footballer currently representing his country at the World Cup, faces significant legal challenges as he has been confirmed to stand trial on rape charges. The Investigating Chamber of the Versailles Court of Appeal announced on June 19 that Hakimi will be referred to the Criminal Court to address these allegations.

In light of this development, the Paris Saint-Germain player has publicly declared his readiness to face the courts and defend his side of the story. He expressed frustration with the legal process, revealing he has awaited this legal hearing since the outset of the case.

“The justice system looked me in the eye and said: ‘If you weren’t famous, there would never have been a case,’” Hakimi stated. He elaborated on his decision to remain silent for years, believing that patience and trust in the system would yield the right outcomes.

However, Hakimi feels that a narrative that is not reflective of his truth is being presented, impacting his family and personal life. “I sometimes feel as though I have become an easy target. I have been waiting for this trial since day one. And I am now looking forward to it. At last, I will be able to speak out,” he added.
