The Eagles of Carthage faced another defeat in Group F on June 21 during the ongoing World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This loss highlights the challenges Tunisia has encountered in the tournament.

Following the match, Tunisia’s manager, Hervé Renard, expressed his disappointment candidly. The French coach, who was appointed just days before the match, recognized the superiority of their opponents.

With Tunisia’s elimination already determined, Renard urged his players to demonstrate resilience and character as they prepare for their final match. “We were too loose defensively. The players tried their best and didn’t give up. But we were beaten by a team that is far superior to us. We need to hang in there during these difficult times. It’s going to take pride to play the third match to the best of our ability,” he stated.

Renard took over as Tunisia’s manager on June 15, following the dismissal of Sabri Lamouchi after a heavy defeat to Sweden, where Tunisia lost 5–1.
