Achraf Hakimi has solidified his legacy in Moroccan football following his standout performance against Haiti during the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. In the match held on June 24, Morocco secured a 4-2 victory, with Hakimi playing a pivotal role.
The captain of the Atlas Lions equalized for Morocco in the 39th minute and later assisted Ismael Saibari for the second equalizer shortly before halftime, showcasing his vital contribution to the team’s success.
Hakimi’s performance has made him the second Moroccan player to both score and provide an assist in a single World Cup match. The distinction was previously held by Abdeljalil Hadda, who achieved this in 1998 against Scotland.
