A complicated situation has arisen between Chelsea and Manchester City following the appointment of Enzo Maresca as the new manager of Manchester City.
The London club released a statement detailing the reasons for Maresca’s dismissal. Chelsea claims that Maresca ceased his responsibilities after he was informed about the opportunity to manage Manchester City, despite prior agreements.
Furthermore, Chelsea confirmed that Manchester City compensated them for Maresca, with the amount reported by Fabrizio Romano to be £17 million.
Maresca had been at the helm of Chelsea from July 2024 until January 2026. During his tenure, he led the team in 92 matches, achieving 55 wins, 16 draws, and 21 defeats. His notable achievements include winning the Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea.
