Tough times for Hong Myung-bo.
Fans are expressing their anger as the South Korean national team faces backlash for their early exit from the World Cup. According to The Sun, South Korean police have deployed additional security measures at the airport in anticipation of the team’s arrival following a disappointing tournament.
The security response comes after alarming reports surfaced of a death threat directed at head coach Hong Myung-bo, who oversaw the team’s failure to advance past the group stage. South Korea suffered defeats to both Mexico and South Africa, which heightened tensions among frustrated fans.
“We have decided to deploy police officers to prevent any unfortunate incidents that may occur during the arrival procedure. We will respond strictly to any illegal actions, including throwing objects,” the police statement said.
Despite finishing third in their group with a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic, the team’s overall performance was deemed insufficient to secure a place in the knockout rounds. In light of the outcome, the President of South Korea has ordered an investigation into the team’s shortcomings at the tournament.
