Al Ahly SC has parted ways with manager Jess Thorup following a disappointing season that saw the club fail to secure a spot in next year’s CAF Champions League. The decision was confirmed through an official statement released by the club on Thursday, June 4.
Under Thorup’s leadership, Al Ahly faced significant challenges, finishing third in the Egyptian Premier League and missing out on the prestigious tournament. This performance marked a notable decline for the renowned Egyptian side, known for its strong history in African football.
The split was described as mutual, with both parties agreeing to end the partnership after just one season. Thorup joined Al Ahly in October 2025, but his tenure has come to a close amid widespread expectations for better results.
