Al Ahly SC, the Egyptian football club renowned for its success in the CAF Champions League, is reportedly considering a shake-up within its coaching staff. This comes amid a challenging season for the club, which was recently eliminated from the 2025–2026 Champions League at the quarter-final stage and is struggling in the league standings.
In light of the current situation, there is speculation that head coach Jess Thorup may be replaced at the end of the season. Al Ahly is reportedly eyeing Jose Manuel Gomes, the current manager of Al Fateh, as a potential successor. The club is interested in leveraging Gomes’ contractual situation, as his deal runs out next June.
While the interest is clear, it has been noted that no official offer has yet been extended to Gomes. His agent has confirmed the interest from Al Ahly SC but highlighted that discussions are still at an early stage.
