Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, expresses satisfaction with Eberechi Eze’s performance but seeks more impactful contributions from the playmaker.

The 27-year-old transferred to Arsenal from Crystal Palace for up to £67.5 million during the summer transfer window.

Since joining the team, Eze has played a supporting role. He took seven matches to score his first Premier League goal, which came against Crystal Palace in October, followed by a remarkable hat-trick against Spurs just weeks later.

The England international did not score again in the league until last weekend, where he netted two goals in a 4-1 win against Spurs.

Ahead of the upcoming match against Chelsea, Arteta commended Eze’s attitude since joining the club but emphasized the need for more game-changing performances.

“You see how players react to different decisions,” he said. “When they experience better matches or face challenges. His role has changed several times this season, and while his reactions have been consistently positive, delivering performances is crucial for us.

“His daily conduct has been excellent, but we need those behaviors to translate into significant performances that can influence the outcomes of matches. That’s why we signed him.

“To truly understand him, we need to see how he collaborates with other players and identify the connections we can create around him and the spaces where he feels most effective.

“He has made notable positive changes in certain aspects. Ultimately, we can’t predict when we will witness the full extent of these changes, whether it be in a week, two weeks, or a month, but they’re coming.”
