Aston Villa is reportedly considering a move for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford as a potential replacement for Emiliano Martínez, who may depart the club this summer. Manager Unai Emery is actively seeking a suitable candidate to fill this crucial position.
Trafford, 23, is looking for increased playing time and appears to fit Villa’s requirements. According to Times Sport, the club views him as an ideal reinforcement for the upcoming season.
Since joining Manchester City from Burnley in the summer of 2025 for €31.2 million, Trafford has struggled to secure a starting role, often playing behind Gianluigi Donnarumma. This season, he has made 10 appearances, conceding 10 goals while achieving 7 clean sheets.
His current market value is estimated at €25 million, according to Transfermarkt.
