A potential transfer to the Premier League is on the horizon for a Japanese prospect, as Aston Villa begins to explore options to replace their Argentine goalkeeper.
In a significant development, Aston Villa scouts were reportedly present during the recent World Cup match between the Netherlands and Japan. This information was shared by noted journalist Nicolò Schira via his social media page on X.
Sources indicate that the scouting mission was specifically focused on observing 23-year-old Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. Suzuki has emerged as a top candidate to take over from Aston Villa’s first-choice keeper, Emiliano Martínez, who is set to depart.
Currently, Suzuki is contracted with Italian club Parma until 2029, with his market value estimated at €20 million, according to Transfermarkt.
