Barcelona faces a crucial decision as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. Reports from DiarioAS indicate that Manchester City‘s 31-year-old attacking midfielder, Bernardo Silva, is nearing a transfer to the Catalan club as a free agent.

However, the potential acquisition of Silva could complicate matters for Barcelona. Should the club finalize the deal with Silva, it would effectively eliminate any chance of signing 28-year-old forward Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis. Rashford is currently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United, but the club is reluctant to pay the full €30 million required to secure his contract.

With Silva expected to depart from Manchester City this summer, Barcelona stands to benefit from acquiring the Portuguese playmaker without a transfer fee. Nonetheless, this move could significantly impact the club’s wage bill, making a permanent transfer for Rashford financially unfeasible.
