Emerse Fae has named Christopher Operi as a replacement for Clement Akpa, who has withdrawn from the Ivory Coast Elephants’ squad due to injury. This decision comes just weeks ahead of the World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Ivorian Football Federation announced Akpa’s injury and subsequent withdrawal on Friday, May 29. Initially part of the squad selected by Fae, Akpa’s absence represents a significant setback for the team as they prepare for the tournament.
In response to the situation, Fae acted quickly to secure a replacement, calling up reserve player Christopher Operi to join the Elephants for the upcoming World Cup.
